You don’t need a race car to have fun with COM!

There are six basic requirements for attending a COM event:

  • A valid drivers license.
  • Participants must be 18 years or older.
  • A car that is in good working order. That means at a minimum it must have good tires, brakes and working seatbelts. * See note below
  • All open cars, i.e. convertibles, must be equipped with a roll bar and drivers must use arm restraints.
  • A helmet that is Snell 2015 (SA2015 or newer is recommended). Most motorcycle helmets are Snell rated (e.g. M2015). COM reserves the right to reject for use any helmet that appears damaged or otherwise unsafe.
  • A long-sleeve, cotton shirt (no nylon or fleece), long pants and closed shoes (no sandals, crocs etc.)

You will be spending the day outdoors, sometimes in the sun with little shade:

  • Sunscreen and/or Rain Gear
  • Plenty of water
  • Snacks
  • Some cash for the concession stand (where available)
  • A small notebook and pen

* If your car has been modified you may need to conform to stricter safety requirements, such as a roll bar and fire suit. Please consult the rule book to be sure your vehicle meets the rules.

We have many active members who would be happy to help you get started. Need more help? Email chiefsteward@comscc.org.

Still not sure you’re ready? Come watch, and even get a ride-along.

You’re welcome to come to one of our events and watch. All of our events are free and open to the public, you’ll just need to register at the front gate and sign an insurance waiver. Instructors can also give you ride-along.
