Re: Non-DOT Slicks

The big problems I have with the Pirelli Grand-Am slicks for anything short of Prepared are the following: 1. They are a true race tire. 2. They are only available in a limited number of sizes, meaning that if your car can't fit an 18" wheel with a significantly larger outside tire diameter than wha...

Re: Non-DOT Slicks

The Pirelli Rolex slicks are a true racing slick tire, and are not what I would consider to be in the spirit of SS/ST rules. Aditionally, with the physical size of the tires being much bigger, there would definitley be an advantage to a car with the few tire sizes being able to run the Rolex Pirelli...

Re: Non-DOT Slicks

However, to suit my needs, it seemed simpler to allow a single exception, given that we have lots of experience and it is common knowledge that the koni cup, grand am and continental series tires are indeed slower, and would not provide an advantage. I figured it would be a lot simpler to get that ...

Re: Online registration problems - NHMS 4

Thanks all, I do have the issue sorted out (thanks Fred!) and am now registered. I remember there was a REALLY well written turn by turn description of NHMS that was in the COM newsletter a few years ago, and I think it may have been posted somewhere here as well. I'm definitley going to go back and...

Re: Online registration problems - NHMS 4

Thanks Will. dad may or may not be there depending on whether or not he's in Arizona. I haven't driven anything on track since 2008, and haven't driven my car since the last COM event at Lime Rock, so I'm just hoping I don't embarrass myself too badly. :D

Online registration problems - NHMS 4

Anyone else having this issue? I tried to renew my membership and register for the NHMS 4 event, but when I hit the "submit" button on the cart, all it did was refresth the page. It would not bring me to a page that would accept payment, regardless of what payment option was chosen. I then tried to ...

Re: Rule#23 - Thumbs up to the board members

Yes, I've been out of touch with the club for a while, but I don't like this. As a couple of obvious examples of "Why can't I do this" Why can't I run the VR6 engine in my Corrado that came with the G60 engine? Except for the aspiration, number of cylinders, and electronics, they're otherwise identi...

Re: What COM folks are building...

[thanks Bruce for directing me here] The first motor I spun a #2 rod bearing on was a bone stock motor with 170k miles on it. That one is forgiveable. The second one I spun the #2 rod bearing on was drilled for oiling to solve that issue in theory. I put about 1000 street miles on it, and it spun the...

Street registration

My SSB car meets all of the COM rules and is not street registered. Having the car actually registered is not a requirement.

Shenendoah because it's closest, and I haven't run there before. That having been said, it's not looking like I'll make any away events next year. I've driven both VIR and Mid-Ohio. They're a close #2 and #3 behind Mosport on tracks that still exist that are my favorites that I've driven. Pocono is ...

I believe this rule started for the SP prep level, before the ST prep level existed and was intended to be used for cars that were adding forced induction. I agree that the point that the rule no longer really exists and is covered elsewhere.

"Y"-type shoulder harnesses are permitted in Showroom Stock. Why? Because a Y-type harness is safer than the factory 3 point harness, and in SS harnesses aren't required. Shoulder harnesses may not be mounted to the package shelf under the rear window and each side of the shoulder harness shall hav...

I submitted a rules proposal, but IMO, it's a no brainer to pass.

I proposed that we add Calabogie as an official approved track configuration.
