Re: Full slick rain tires in non-Prepared classes

I agree that it is legal to run a DOT-R wet tire like the Hoosier Wet in any class (I've done this before and will likely run it again). The real reason I threw this question out there is that it's much easier and cheaper to get slick scrubs from racing teams. For instance, JPJP from the bimmerforu...

Re: C5 Z06 - Infromation

The C5 Z06 and base C6 are very close in terms of performance, and asBruce mentioned, the C54 Z06 is a little bit better out of the box on track, adn the base C6 will be a bit better as a daily driver. I'd base a purchase more on the condition of the car than exactly which one it is. The only real n...

Re: SS wheel question.

As a little bit of intent here, as I was on the BOD when this rule was originally proposed: The intent of the rule was to allow cars to run a wheel of smaller diameter and equal width to the stock wheels. The primary reason for this was that at the time the rule was proposed, there was a very limite...

SOLD

Updated 7/15/12. Car is sold. Hello all, I'm selling my 1999 Mazda Miata so that I can get something faster. Ran a 1:21 flat at the last COM event, and includes extensive spares, everything I have for the car would be going with it. This is the ideal car if you're looking to eventually move to SM. C...

Re: LeMons in NH - "Loudon Annoying 2011"

A couple more comments here... In tech, we were told that a Miata had won the last event and was quite a bit faster than everyone else...hence the penalty. The driver's side door came off a third car whose chassis has long since departed. The only non-stock Spec Miata parts on the car were the brake...

Re: street stock tires

Here is a little history on the "as delivered construction" rule. COMSCC has been around for a long time. It was formed over 50 years ago. I have been involved with COM for longer than most. I attended my first TT with my dad at Bryar in teh early 80's (before I could drive), and somewhere I still h...

Re: Questions

The above is correct. My dad's Taurus, which originally began life as a NASCAR Busch North series purpose built road course car in the late 1990's ran in COM PA, and SCCA SPO. To be legal (though not competitive) in GT1, he would have had to change either the body or the wheelbase. Either are relati...

Re: The Board Rules Discussion Thread

Just for the record, a well prepped ST4 car should be faster than a Spec Miata, especially if the Spec is running with the restrictor plate and weight in it.The Spec Miata kit is definitley not the best suspension package available that is legal, and there are other mods that are allowed in ST (gett...

Re: Non-DOT Slicks

The fastest lap for the Grand-Am Pirelli slicks (radials) is either the first or second hot lap in most cases. In the Pirelli line, they're a pretty hard tire, and take longer to heat up than many of the other Pirelli options. Hard tires that take longer to heat up are fastest on their first or sec...
