Re: source of pre-fabricated rollbar head rest?

Wow that is an expensive headrest ($360 for two). It appears to be designed to be mounted on a vertical tube. I suspect that it could be modified to mount differently. However, for that price I might be able to buy the sancioned type of foam and have a local interior shop fabricate it. I will do som...

Re: how hard should I try to fabricate with two equal seats

We have decided on a solution that will enable both seats to be installed with the same requirements. Here is a descripition (I will post pictures as soon as it is interesting - half built right now). I am using the SCCA rollbar specifications with some extra stuff added. The tubing is 1.5 inch DOM ...

Re: how hard should I try to fabricate with two equal seats

perhaps an instructor would not want to ride in an MG midget anyway. Also, the rollbar might be the wrong height for a tall instructor (not to mention the rest of the seat and belt geometry). It seems that when you build this kind of thing it needs to be built for a specific person and in this case,...

Re: source of pre-fabricated rollbar head rest?

I should have explained that I am using a lowback vintage style kirkey aluminum seat which requires a separate headrest to be installed.

how hard should I try to fabricate with two equal seats

Hi, I am at the stage where I need to decide exactly how the supports for headrest and seat belts are to be fabricated for my Midget. It is pretty straight forward how you would do it for a 1 seat car. I looked at all of my pictures of similar cars and none of them has two seats. It seems that I hav...

source of pre-fabricated rollbar head rest?

Hi, I seem to be having trouble finding a pre-fabricated headrest such as you would mount on the rollbar assembly in a car with a low back vintage type seat. I am looking for something that looks like a 6 inch round padded headrest that is expected to be mounted somehow on a bar. I thought this woul...

Pictures from last NHMS event

I finally posted the pictures of the recent event NHMS event. Most of my pictures were from the third day because my car was out for the rest of the event: http://www.pangalacticconsortium.com/cars/CarEvents2011/COM_NHMS_July I did not succeed in finding a good place to take pictures of cars on the...

Re: location of rear seatbelt attach points and other questions

I have not posted my photos yet because I have been at the National Buick Convention all week with my 1950 Buick Super Riviera (not at home where I do my computer work). I will post them this weekend. Sorry for the delay.

Re: location of rear seatbelt attach points and other questions

thanks for the tips. this supports the theory that two inches below my shoulders is too low. We are going to aim for 0 deg. I will show him that document ( and any others that I can find). My harness did not come with instructions. SVRA does not referr to any but you sent me good suggestions. SVRA r...

location of rear seatbelt attach points and other questions

Hi, The guy who is building the roll over protection for my MG midget is following the SCCA regulations that I found on the SVRA web site (they refer to those rather than creating their own). I have observed that lots of organizations do the same. However, I have not found any regulations for seat b...

hot brakes

Hi, After a few autocross runs my front brake disks (infrared thermometer) are about 350 degrees. After a 25 minute lap session at NHMS my front disks are about 550 deg. After a 1 hour lap session at NHMS my front desks were 850 degrees. I experienced no brake fade (performance remained very good). ...

wrong car class in event list

My car class is correct in my profile but wrong in the upcoming event list.
I am expecting that I can make sure that it is corrected when I register for the event. It is possible that I did not correct it in my profile until after I had registered.

I have discovered that I registered my car in the wrong clas

Hi,
I registered as SSC but according to the rules I should be SSB. I hope that it will be easy to just change that at registration.
