Re: NHMS May 2021

NEVERMIND- THIS WAS ANSWERED ABOVE- YES

One question- If I sign in "pit crew" (family) that plan to attend noon to end of day Saturday, can they arrive at noonish and get in? Or do they have to sign in at registration hours (7-8)?

Re: Returning to COMSCC

Also, looking for a trailer for a 70" wide car that's a bit over 12 feet long. 80" by 14' would be a great starting point.

Re: Returning to COMSCC

Well, I thought I found a good enough deal, so I took the plunge! :D Thanks for mentioning sound limits! I just ordered a stubby Supertrapp knockoff. As it turns out, it came with a few random parts from a cannibalized car. The spare roll hoop (?!?) has COMSCC tech inspection stickers. They are too ...

Re: Returning to COMSCC

So I am taking a hard look at a single seater like a spec racer. I know a few people used to run formula cars in the past. I am looking at something closed wheel and a little slower. It seems that I would have to run a 2 seater to regain my license. For that I could run my GTI this year. But is ther...

Re: Recommendations for wheel repair?

Fastrack in Peabody (I think).

They send it out. I had a RAY's forged wheel straightened last year, and I am very happy.

Re: Recommended truck to tow two car enclosed trailer

I tow an 8800lb trailer with a 215hp 1996 F250 diesel, nominally a 3/4 ton. The trailer has electric brakes, which is key. It's not fast, but it's fine. It is 2WD, 3.55 rear gears, open diff. No rust. You don't want rotten brakes and frame members for this. It came from Arkansas. I may put a Eaton T...

NHMS- can I go?

I used to have a license - back in '99.

Can I go? I don't need novice stripes insofar as I lost them two decades ago, but haven't run with COM since 99. Someone has to represent T40...

I pull an 8000lb trailer with a 215HP truck. It's an original powerstroke 7.3 with 3.55 "highway gears". You should be just fine with the ecoboost. My car has bigger brakes, wider tires and more power...

I used to live in Manchester. I can't think of a place. THere was a place in Hooksett. It's a pool store now.

I just got back from FastTrack...

Re: Returning to COMSCC

Thanks for the feedback, folks. I think I want to start with Thompson. Palmer looks terrifying. I may try a SCDA day at Thompson, as I don't think there's a COMSCC event there that I can attend this year. I would prefer COMSCC but that's life. I must say that my memory of COMSCC instruction and novi...

Re: Returning to COMSCC

I think this was in the "no point by required" time in COMSCC? I am not sure. But I was passing a 911SC in my GTI and he didn't see me and put me in the grass. The car rotated in the grass and rolled coming back across the track and impacted the berm. I remember at *least* two somersaults and a barr...

Re: Best place to get mounting/balancing - Concord NH area

I also wonder where once could get wheels checked. I have some RAY'S that appear straight. But the tire tread seems a bit out of round. I assume fully forged wheels can be straightened more easily than cast. I am not that far from Concord NH, although really I am near the seacoast. The local tire ra...

Returning to COMSCC

I am returning to track days after a time off. I wanted a few opinions as things have changed. I used to SSC and ST4/ST3 VW GTIs. On a good day, they had 100HP. My current DD with an eey toward track days is a 2015 GTI with the "performance pack". Haldex diff, better power and brakes... and defeatab...
