Re: Mazda ND Transmission Fluid Recommends
I have a very un-scientific method for this. Pull the plug. If what comes out is reddish, I go with Redline D4 ATF. If what comes out is amber brown, I go with the Ford stuff.

Re: Racing Brain
Graham, that's a good one.
I think in all this time the thing I have sort of developed is spotting other driver's behavior and having an ad hoc predictive model that runs in my head calculating all of the stupid shit they are about to do.
....especially the Camrys, CRVs and RAV4s

Re: Watkins Glen 2020
Yes. This sucks. A lot. Camping there is part of experience.
I would not plan on the policy at WGI changing for the rest of their season regardless of the state guidelines. Those folks have always done their own thing.

Re: A7 vs. R1-S?
I've run them both on the #5 car. The R1S wants load. It wants a heavier car than the Hoosier of the same size. I look at in very simple terms. Car weighs above 3k...R1S. Car weighs below 3k, A7, or R1S of narrower width. Dan, for your driving style, I'd go R1S of the narrower width, assuming you ar...

Set of RE71R Lightly Used 245/40/17
Set of RE71Rs that I used for all rain sessions but one last year at Tremblant. I'd say they have 75% of tread remaining. Currently on 17x9 5 x 114.3 ET 45 Enkei RPF1 wheels, which you can use, but I want back.

FatCat FCM Elite Bilstein coil overs for NC MX5
475 front, 350 rear coils, custom valved. The shocks were completely rebuilt prior to the 2018 COM season, and the right front was replaced completely. I won two class championships on this set up, (paired best with Hoosier/BFGs) and there was quite a lot of investment over time to dial them in. All...

16 x 8.5 Monte Titano wheels and Hoosier H2Os
16" Monte Titano wheels shod with Hoosier H2Os (225/50/16) that have half tread left. The wheels are 16x8.5 5x114.3 ET45. Fits NC Miata and more. This is the only set of tires that have ever been mounted to these wheels and came mounted directly from Tire Rack. They are in perfect (albeit dirty) con...

Re: Federal Tires
The key here was already mentioned. The Federals, and most of those mid range wear rate R compounds tires need load to work. An atom weighs about as much as lawn lower, so it isn't a very good test of a tire meant for street cars. MArk, I recall you going through this tire size vs amount of load thi...

Re: Thompson July 2020
I don't have a problem with it, as long as everyone is wearing masks in the common areas and practicing social distancing per the published guidelines.

Re: 2020 TT Season
The BoD will have a discussion and subsequent vote on the topic of a replacement Palmer event this week. Graham, at present, there is no particular cut-off date I am looking at for Thompson. My gut feeling is that this event will happen, as long as things improve and state and local guidelines allow...
