Procedure for Registration
COM events fill up fast, so be ready to register early.
Here's the cold, hard truth: COMSCC EVENTS FILL UP FAST. So fast, you just wouldn't believe it. Invitations to register for events are Emailed out to current COMSCC members typically 6 weeks before the event. NHIS events can sell out in as little as ONE WEEK. If you're not a COMSCC member before registration notices go out, you run the risk of the event being sold out when you register.
You must be a COMSCC member to register for an event. This is a requirement of our insurance policy. If you have come to COM during an open event registration, apply for membership at the same time you register.
Why do events seem to fill up so fast? Here's the straight scoop: We can accommodate about 120 drivers in each event. However, only about 40 of those can be unlicensed drivers. This is because we typically have about 20 instructors at each event, and each instructor is assigned 2 students (unlicensed drivers), one in each of the novice run groups. It is not uncommon for 80 students to sign up for the 40 available slots. That usually means that 30-40 first-timers are going to be disappointed. Sorry, that's just the way things work.
Once a student has passed the COMSCC instruction program and received their time trialing license, they can then attend events without instruction, and have access to the other 80 slots, which greatly improves the chances of getting in.
The goal is, obviously, to Get your Time Trialing License. I can hear you asking, "But how can I get my license if I can't get into events?" The answer is simpler than you might expect: attend the "away" events. These events aren't always sold out, so you have a much better chance of getting in to the event, and every event you attend puts you one step closer to your license. Besides, tracks like Watkins Glen and Mosport are long and fast - you will not be disappointed.
